Boardwalk Empire è una serie tv creata nel 2010 da Terence Winter per l’emittente HBO che fece il suo debutto televisivo il 19 settembre 2010. Il protagonista è Steve Buscemi, che interpreta il ruolo del politico corrotto e gangster Enoch “Nucky” Thompson. Nell’Atlantic City del 1920 e con l’avvento del Proibizionismo, lui e i suoi soci cercheranno di governare la città, tra vendita illegale d’alcol, mafia ed affari d’oro.
Trama
1920, Atlantic City, epoca del Proibizionismo. Il politico corrotto e gangster Enoch “Nucky” Thompson sta cercando di diventare padrone dell’intera città. Aiutato dai suoi soci, il fratello Elias ”Eli” Thompson, il nero Albert “Chalky” White, l’imprenditore Albert Rothstein ed il protetto, Jimmy Darmody, considerato come un figlio ed entrato in affari dopo il ritorno a casa dalle trincee della Grande Guerra, farà di tutto per riuscire nell’impresa di creare un impero basato sull’illegalità, il gioco d’azzardo e l’alcol. Dovrà però fare i conti con alcuni avversari, in particolare il clan della mafia italiana: John “Johnny” Torrio, Lucky Luciano e il famoso, ma ancora giovane, Al Capone.
